Dr. David Wong is a vitreoretinal surgeon at St. Michael's Hospital.

He is an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto and oversees the Department of Ophthalmology & Vision Sciences' residents and fellows at St. Michael's.

David is also a Board Member for the C20/20 Innovation Hub.

Dr. Lyndon Jones

Lyndon Jones graduated in Optometry from the University of Wales in 1985 and gained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the Biomaterials Research Unit at Aston University, Birmingham, UK in 1998. He was awarded an Honorary DSc by Aston in 2018. He was awarded Fellowship of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) in 2017.

He holds three of the higher clinical awards granted by the UK College of Optometrists, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO), in which he is a Diplomate in Cornea and Contact Lenses, and is also a Fellow of both the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE) and the British Contact Lens Association (BCLA).

With over 20 years experience running some of the largest dry eye clinics in the United States, Dr. Karpecki is a leader and pioneer in this dedicated area of optometry.

He is a noted educator and author, having delivered over 1000 lectures and authored over 1000 papers on the subject of Dry Eye Disease - a condition that can negatively affect not only a patient’s vision but also their quality of life.

Dr. John Sheppard is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained corneal eye surgeon. As the President of Virginia Eye Consultants, Dr. Sheppard oversees our overall mission of providing a leading academic, clinical, and research center for excellence in ophthalmology. He is committed to providing the highest quality eye care solutions and he is widely regarded as a leader in his field.

Dr. Sheppard is originally from Pittsburgh. He received a full Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship, and for four years he served with the U.S. Navy, acting as the 6th Fleet Medical Officer and Chief of Family Practice.

Dr. Lynn Winterton

Dr. Winterton is an internationally recognized expert in polymeric biomaterials and contact lens research and development. He worked for 30 years with CIBA Vision and Alcon, Novartis companies, where he held various research leadership and corporate executive roles.

At CIBA Vision, he held the title of Global Head of Research, and, after the acquisition of Alcon, he was the Global Head of Vision Care Research & Development Alliances.

Bernard Lim
Expert Advisor, Innovation Factory

Bernard founded a medical device company which he grew and led to a highly successful acquisition by a global pharmaceutical.

As CEO, Board Chair and Director, he has led the growth of both start-ups and corporate multinationals spanning diverse industry sectors including biotechnology, diagnostics, medical devices, electronics and high technology across US, Canada and Europe.

Bernard is a mentor to multiple university spin-out companies and is our resident Health and Life Sciences EIR.

Michael O’Rourke
President, Scotia Vision

Michael O’Rourke is Chief Executive Officer and a Board Director of Re-Vana Therapeutics. He is also specialized ophthalmic pharma consultant with more than three decades’ expertise in pharmaceutical, drug delivery and medical device strategies.

In 2009, he founded Scotia Vision Consultants advising ophthalmic companies on commercialization and product development with a focus on anterior and posterior ocular drug delivery. Previously he’s worked for 3M, Pfizer, Alza, Chiron Vision, Bausch + Lomb and GrayBug.
